Every Step Led Me Here

I’m a self-taught designer in the truest sense. When I studied design in college, it was all hands-on: pens, rulers, overlays, camera photography, and presentation boards, Oh my! It was long before design software changed everything.

I learned the digital side on the job by saying yes before I felt fully ready, then figuring it out with every project, every client, and every late-night tutorial. That scrappy start gave me something invaluable: an intuitive edge and a deep understanding of what makes a brand not just look good, but feel aligned.

For 20 years, alongside a full-time job, I freelanced to keep my skills fresh. I welcomed passion projects and volunteered with nonprofits where I felt I could make a meaningful impact.

In March of 2017, I went full-time in my business. Over the years, I’ve intentionally up-leveled my skills with advanced certifications, including FG Society’s Master Marketer program and Day Rate Mastery. But the heart of my work is still rooted in helping entrepreneurs bring their vision to life in a way that feels true, strategic, and deeply supported.

It’s all part of what makes this more than just a timeline, it’s a story about Laurie Baines becoming the brand strategist and creative partner I am today.
